Muriel Cohan began her performing career as a teen-ager with the Philadelphia Dance Theatre. In New York she appeared in the works of Mary Anthony, Anna Sokolow and many independent choreographers She is the co-founder and co-artistic director of the Cohan/Suzeau Dance Company that has toured nationally and internationally to critical acclaim. An award-winning choreographer, her works have been performed by the Mary Anthony Dance theatre in New York, Grupo Axis in Brazil, Groupo Signos in Mexico, Kansas City Ballet's "In the Wings", and university dance companies across the country.

The Cohan/Suzeau Dance Company, recipient of a Phoenix Award for its artistic contribution to the city of Lawrence, has toured the region with the support of the NEA Regional touring Program and the Kansas Arts Commission.

Cohan/Suzeau grants and choreography fellowships include: The Daniel Goldstein fund, the Kansas Arts Commission, The Ohio Arts Council, Baruch College Fund, New York, and the Goldstein Foundation. The company's recent international appearances include China, Bulgaria, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. In 2007, performances of their jointly choreographed "Dia de los Muertos" with an original score by renowned composer Gabriela Lena Frank were sponsored by the United States Embassy and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
