Sherman Halsey Student Opportunity Award

The Sherman Halsey Student Opportunity Award fund was established in 2015 in honor of the late Sherman Halsey (1957-2013).

Sherman Halsey was a music video and television director, producer, and artist manager. He produced and directed hundreds of television shows and music videos for artists such as Tim McGraw, Brooks and Dunn, Alan Jackson, B.B. King, Michael Bolton, and Dwight Yoakam. An alumnus of the University of Kansas, he served on the Department of Theatre Professional Advisory Board for several years.

The fund shall be used to support students passionate about a career in Theatre and/or Film & Media Studies at the University of Kansas, pursuing creative opportunities beyond the class room; including but not limited to, study abroad, internships, travel to perform or attend performances, and/or entrance fees to submit work to festivals.

The award is presented every other year by vote of the faculty of the Department. An application is required.
