Financial Aid - New Students
Scholarships
- The Department has several scholarships that are available to incoming undergraduate students in Theatre & Dance.
- First-year and transfer undergraduate students should complete the Theatre or the Dance Scholarship Application through UKASH. You must have already been accepted to KU, set up a KU online ID, and declared a theatre or dance major or minor in order to apply. By completing these applications you will be considered for all Departmental scholarships for which you meet the eligibility requirements. All applications must be completed by March 1 for consideration.
- When completing the Dance scholarship application, you will be asked for a link to an audition video and to upload an essay of up to 750 words answering the questions "What role has dance played in your life? Why are you interested in, or wanting to continue to study dance in an academic setting?" and including information on how long you’ve been training, your principal dance style and where and with whom you have trained.
- For information on what to include in the video, please visit Audition Guidelines.
- When completing the Theatre scholarship application, students will be asked to upload a theatrical resume or description of their theatrical experience.

- Need-based scholarships: To be considered for a scholarship with a financial need component, students must complete the annual Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) so financial need can be determined. International students usually must complete KU's International Student Need Analysis Worksheet (ISNAW) instead of the FAFSA. Links, timelines, and additional information is available from the KU Office of Student Financial Aid.
