Loren Kennedy Ambassadors
The Loren Kennedy Endowment Fund was established as a bequest from the estate of Loren W. Kennedy of Parsons, Kansas. A KU student in the early 1930s, Kennedy was a member of the Kansas Players, appearing in productions of Bertha, the Beautiful Sewing Machine Girl; Cock Robin; and The Scarlet Dove, the latter written by Professor Allen Crafton.
The majority of the income of the fund is used for arts administration ambassadorships in the Department. Students are selected on the basis of the student’s overall achievements in the Department and on the student’s interest in serving in an administrative capacity. Students currently serving as a Loren Kennedy are eligible to apply for one additional year in the program.
The goal of the program is to provide each recipient the opportunity to train in administrative areas of theatre & dance. It also provides staff assistance with administrative tasks, auditions, and special projects throughout the academic year. The students serve as ambassadors to and as advocates for their fellow students.
Eligible students should apply by completing the Loren Kennedy application by April 1 for consideration.
Loren Kennedy Ambassadors are chosen by the Managing Director and the Chair of the Department.
