The Hamburg and Peterson Guest Artist Programs

The Hamburg and Peterson Guest Artist Programs at KU’s Department of Theatre & Dance provides residencies for choreographers, somatic practitioners, theatrical devisers, and technique instructors to create with and train students.

During their residencies, Guest Artists teach master classes, set works upon students, and help foster connections between dance students and professionals in regional and national dance communities. The residencies provide opportunities for the Guest Artist to develop their work, while students gain exposure to a broad range of performance styles and training techniques.

Applications for Guest Artist residencies will be reviewed every two years. However, given the COVID-19 outbreak, our application process is temporarily suspended. We will post more information regarding application dates as it becomes available.

The Guest Artist Program is supported by the Janet Hamburg and the John M. & Frances R.B. Peterson Visiting Artist Funds.

Previous guest artists include Talia Beck, Rebecca Bryant, Autumn Eckman, Carl Flink, Lane Gifford, Jennifer Hart, Lindsay Hawkins, David Justin, Regina Klenjoski, Gabrielle Lamb, KT Nelson & ODC Dance Company, Mariana Oliveira, Meggi Sweeney Smith, Melissa Thodos & THODOS Dance Company, Dušan Týnek, Jennifer Weber, and Nejla Yatkin.
