Biography

Sergio Alicea is a Puerto Rican actor, physicist, and teacher. He has a B.Sc. in Applied Physics to Electronics from the University of Puerto Rico, Humacao Campus. During his time as an undergrad, he was part of the theatre group "Teatro Gris" where he was an active member as an actor, part of the production team and mentor. After receiving his B.Sc., he went on to complete an M.Ed. with specialization in Teaching Fine Arts Theatre at the Ana G. Méndez University, Gurabo Campus. Here he merged his passions of physics and theatre. He brought a STEAM vision to his education and research. In his M.Ed. thesis Sergio managed to create a teaching strategy for Newton's Laws using body movement and theatrical games. He worked as a middle school science teacher where he implemented a STEAM approach to his classes. Sergio also has experience as an actor and director outside of the university environment on stage and screen. His interests range from theatre education, the unification of arts and sciences (STEAM), and the transition process from stage to screen.
