Choreographic Fellowship
The Department of Theatre & Dance at the University of Kansas invites emerging and established choreographers to apply for a two-week artist residency to teach technique classes and set an approximately 10–15-minute group work (preferably for about 10 students) on the University Dance Company.
This is an opportunity for our dancers to collaborate with industry professionals. We welcome all styles of dance; it exposes our students to new perspectives and artistic practices. Decisions will be made based upon the choreography submitted for review. Proposals for new choreography will not be considered. Fellows will be chosen for Spring 2026, Fall 2026, and Fall 2027. Established choreographic fellows will receive an honorarium of $5,000, plus housing and travel. Emerging artists will receive a $2,000 honorarium. All fellows will have studio time available to prepare for rehearsals. A livestream video from the UDC performance will be available for archival purposes.
Student dance clubs are also invited to use this form to submit work to be considered for UDC and Senior Showcase performances.
Please fill out the application below. Those who wish to be considered for Spring 2026 should complete the application by September 12, 2025.
Please direct any questions about the fellowship or application process by email to KU Dance.
