Biography —
As Marketing Coordinator for the Department of Theatre & Dance, Lisa oversees the marketing and advertising initiatives for the Department and its production wings, University Theatre and University Dance Company, executing her campaigns at the high standards for which KU is known. She engages with administrators, directors, choreographers, designers, dramaturgs, and cast members to raise awareness of and help sell tickets to public performances and special events. She develops and implements marketing strategies, with an emphasis on social media and community building. Her work reflects the brand of the Department, and she helps mold its identity as she puts her touch on the majority of its outward-facing brand assets.
Lisa has worked as a marketing professional in for-profit, government, and academic sectors. She has worked as assistant to regionally recognized artists Louis Copt and Stephen T. Johnson, helping generate awareness and keeping their marketing and outreach strategies on target. She’s worked as communications editor for the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, a blogger and web assistant for SouthWind Art Gallery in Topeka, and an adjunct lecturer in mass media at Washburn University. In the television industry, Lisa led a team of online journalists to win a regional Edward R. Murrow Award of Excellence. She made the switch to marketing as a profession in 2009 after years working as a journalist.
A native Nebraskan, Lisa and her husband have called Lawrence their home since 2003. When she’s not at work, Lisa finds joy in nature, live concerts, theatrical and dance performances, and art exhibitions.
